Well at least I got this posted before the month was over... We are playing up in Salem this Saturday. Its a FREE show at Gulu-Gulu - 247 Essex St. in the heart of Salem MA. Great food and the beer and wine selection is excellent. It will be our last show with our dear friend Pete Varga on mandolin as he is going to pursue his fortune overseas. Pete has been great to work with so please come out to see him off. We will have guests performing with us as well, including a lovely young lady named Raquel sitting in on vocals. We're playing all night starting at 8PM and doing 3 sets. I'll be digging up tunes many of you never heard before. Well thanks to everyone who made it to our last show at Sally Obriens. It was quite a night. While we played well to a great crowd and shared a stage with some great perfomers but it was a struggle as well. I kept breaking strings on everyguitar I picked up and worst of all someone accidentally broke the neck on Mark's bass and he had to get through the set with the help of a lot of tape but we survived and here we are... THIS THURSDAY: We're headlining a fundraiser in West Roxbury! "Fund-raising party for Medical Mission to Niger, Africa. Thursday, 3/13/08 at the Elks Lodge, Post 2909, 1 Morrell Street, West Roxbury. 7PM-11PM. 15$ at the door. Join us for a fun evening featuring live music with local bands Rev.Bob & the Darkness, The Deckhands, and Yahuba "el pollo" Garcia and Jen Kearney. There will also be food, raffles and a cash bar. Funds raised at this event will be used to help pay for the staff's travel, housing and supplies for this mission. To learn more about the work they will be doing, or to make a donation to the IOWD, please visit the website www.nigerfistula.org " We'll be debuting Mark's new bass, Pete Varga on Mandolin, Julia Hughes' new band the Deckhands and donating 50% of all merch sales to the fund. | Two Killer Shows- by Julia |
| Tue, Apr. 17 2007 |
| First of all- Sky Bar totally rocked, and thanks to everyone who made it out to see us or the three other great bands we got to play with. It was a really fun night for all, and I know that I personally enjoyed playing with some other bands for a change. If you aren't aware of the groovy tunes of Sharecropper, Thunderpants Johnson and Dirt Water Refuge, you best check them out.
Our most recent show at Stewart's was also very cool. The impending Nor'eastern scared some away at the beginning, but by the third set the joint was jumping and we all had a great, relaxed show. I can't say enough about how much fun that pub is. It's really as close to an authentic UK pub you can get to in this country, and the owners are simply adorable. And their french fries are sublime.
So the word on the street is that for our Stewart's shows this summer there's going to be post-show pool party madness at our friend Ed's pad. It'll be like all those '50's pool parties where Annette sings a song about how much she loves making out with surfer boys and then everyone jumps in the pool and does the hand jive, which is lucky, cuz that's pretty much the only dance I know.
Thanks for reading, guys! See you at Stewart's on Cinco de Mayo! |

Reminder that our monthly gig at Stewarts in Everett is this Saturday night. 3 hours of food, drinks, and Rev. Bob & the Darkness! We’ve been having a great time and they keep having us back… Stewart's Pub 166 Elm St. Everett, MA Sat, Mar. 24 AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION… Help pick what the Rev. will write about next… That’s right, I would like each of you to send us your idea for what I should write a song about. The best ideas will be posted for the fans to vote on their choice and to choose who gets to sing it. Here are the rules: 1) Just send a sentence with your idea to DARKMAIL@GOSAVEYOURSELF.COM 2) No lyrics, poetry, sheet music, cover tunes, or anything else that could complicate this process with copyright or publishing conflicts – just an idea. 3) No personal reference – no songs about you, your ex, your current love, your pet, your family, etc… 4) Just a sentence, not a paragraph or essay. 5) It should be the kind of thing we would actually sing about, so butterflies, rainbows, picnics and snowangels are not the way to go. 6) You need to be on our mailing list. If you are not - please sign up in the lower left corner. Those of you who are already - please make sure we have your current email and that you email/internet provider isn't filtering us out. We will review all of these and post the best ones up on the site for you to choose your favorite. And you’ll be able to vote on who should sing it as well. All results will be posted, there may also be prizes as well as fame involved. Check back for updates. CHECK OUT THE SITE – new pix, new Jules blog, video footage on the Media page, a review on the Press page and more still to come… Questions, comments : DARKMAIL@GOSAVEYOURSELF.COM Thanks, Rev. Bob |

| I would like to apologize on behalf of myself and John. Although we were thoroughly invested in the quality of last Saturday's show, we were having a little bit of an attention span issue. See, "Best All Time Game Fights of the Boston Bruins," was on the tv at Stewart's, and both John and I were staring with wide-eyed rapture as the moustached hockey players of the 70's bashed each other's skulls into the bleachers with pure testosterone-driven zeal. If anything, I think watching it added a little something to our performance, but none the less, sorry for the lack of eye contact.
Besides that small concentration issue, I think Saturday's show was our strongest yet, since I've been around anyway, largely due to the ridiculous talent of our fiddle all-star Betty. As my favorite local bartender says, "Holy Hannah!" I am willing to get past the stereotype of a roots band covering "Devil Went Down to Georgia," solely based on her performance. She sounded better than the recording. Seriously.
But, of course, everyone rocked. Although Bob seemed oddly euphoric. Hm...

| Was my shirt really that see-through? (written by Julia) |
| Mon, Feb. 12 2007 |
| Yes, yes it was. I guess more than my singing ability was revealed at my first show.
Other than that small strike against my modesty, I had a simply marvelous time at Stewart's. To those of you who came- thanks so much for making it a fun experience for me. And to those of you who didn't- well, I hope that after seeing previously discussed photos you will make the effort next time.
Also, for goodness' sake, people better start friending me on myspace. I have 6 friends, and they are all in the band. It's getting pathetic. |

Julia will be writing some news spots to keep you updated and give you some of her personal feedback. |

| The Great Boston Burlesque Exposition |
| Fri, Dec. 1 2006 |
We've been picked to be on the soundtrack/comp. CD for the Boston Burlesque Exposition . While I'm not ussually one to be all excited about another Boston compilation, this is VERY cool. For one thing its done in promotion with a very cool event - and for another, these are some really cool bands to be on a CD with. So we did something special and remixed My Way Home (you know the dirt old man song about young girls) with the new members of the band featured. If you are looking for a recording of us with John, Betty and Julia on it - THIS IS THE FIRST! Go to : MAKE SOME NOISE to check out info on the CD, where to get it and to hear free samples of the bands on it. Check back for updates on the event and a possible release show with us and a few of the bands from the CD. |

| Indie film loves us... |
| Wed, Nov. 15 2006 |
Thats right, the Rev. is currently working on soundtracks. - First, Alexandre Archimbaud has produced a short film that is expected to hit the U.S. soon that will feature the song "Dead Man Running". Legal details are still being worked out but we are excited about the release and will post full info as soon as its available.
- Second, Rod Webber has approached us about producing a soundtrack for his film "Monkfish". Rod's been a big supporter of the band and its great that he would trust us to work on his baby. Check out the trailer with a little something we through together for him on YouTube - Monkfish trailer
- Third, Mike Maniglia, another indie film producer/director has approached us about doing 2 music videos and is currently writing treatments for "Left Me Hanging" and "I Don't Care".
We will have updates on all of the above, as well as a possible western, when the facts are revealed. Mean while please check out the Monkfish website - as Rod is still doing fundraising for the release. |
